Non Canadian Drivers

If you have never driven in Canada before, it is a good idea to take a refresher driving course with us to familiarize yourself with the road systems and traffic signs.

Here is some information about the documentation you will need:

Driving in Canada with a Non Canadian Licence

If you are a newcomer to Ontario and hold a driver’s licence from another province or country, you are required to apply for an Ontario driver’s licence within 60 days of residing in Ontario.  If you hold a non-Ontario licence, you are legally allowed to drive in Ontario for 60 days before an exchange is required.

If you hold a valid driver’s licence from one of the following jurisdictions you may be eligible to exchange it for an Ontario licence.

You may apply at any of our 56 Drive Test Centers province-wide.

Note:  Exchange of Licence is only applicable to jurisdictions with licence exchange agreement with Ontario. Applicants from all other jurisdictions are subject to a credit of driving experience only and are required to complete applicable tests.

Exchange a drivers licence if you are re-locating from:
